Victoria’s Secret is getting Spanxed.
How Spanx is stealing traffic from Victorias Secret
Spanx is a company started by Sara Blakely, and lately, it’s been stealing web traffic from Victorias Secret.
What is Spanx? in their own words
Spanx.com for the largest selection of slimming intimates, body shapers, hosiery, apparel, and the latest innovations in shapewear for men and women.
victoria’s secret, on the other hand
simply advertises themselves as ‘’The world’s best bras, panties, and lingerie.’’
While anyone could see that the two might be competing companies in the world of woman’s shapewear, there is no
direct rule-breaking going on.
At least not at first glance.
Buried in terms of services for the victoria secret credit card is a reference to a website VSAngelCC.com
it’s here that a customer can go to pay their bill.
However, if we drop the CC from the domain, we will see that
A Spanx.com owned domain
Where the page title for SEO is as follows
SPANX by Sara Blakely | Leggings, Denim, Shapewear, Bras, Lingerie
This website does not act as a phishing page for VS, but it does act to capture traffic from people who want to pay their card.
Also, note that #vsangel is the same tag used by Victoria’s Secret to name the girls who are under signed contracts with Victoria’s Secret.
So how is Spanx stealing traffic?
Anytime a customer calls into Victoria’s Secret customer service line, they are informed to go to
VSAngelCC.com to pay their bill.
When they do so, if they instead visit VSAngel.com then Spanx instead gets the traffic.
Additionally, there are marketing materials made by VS which promoted that domain.

We can see that Spanx has been stealing traffic since 2012 with Spanx taking ownership of a domain that is directly affiliated with victoria’s Secret.
Being as Spanx and Victorias Secret are competitors, owning that domain is at minimum a shady move and most likely a breach of the law regarding antitrust behavior.
There is no good reason for Spanx to have ownership of this domain. it’s done so to capture leads from people who were about to pay their PinkCard
Secret’s out, Spanx.
Update: Spanx has changed the domain. Don’t worry it’s still viewable on the wayback machine and at this video I took before writing this. 😲
